Barbara Nymark
Barbara Nymark , the creator of Red Sand Jewelry, began her work in jewelry design in 2005, after retiring from a career in public broadcasting with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Pursuing her lifelong involvement and interest in the arts, Barbara has studied both painting and jewelry design at the Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, B.C.

Barbara is an avid gardener, and is a much sought after guest speaker on the topic of pond gardening. Her spectacular gardens are a favourite “stroll through” for her friends and neighbours, as well as for her Wheaten Terrier, Roxy.

Barbara now designs and crafts jewelry at her home studio in Victoria by the Sea, in Prince Edward Island. Her designs are for the most part, one of a kind pieces made from natural materials and semi precious stones. She brings the colours and shapes of Canada to her work, reflecting her experiences from the West, the Prairies and her beloved East Coast Island. Her current work is influenced by the colours, shapes and viewscapes of Prince Edward Island, and the Atlantic region.

StonesAbout the Product

Artisan Barbara Nymark works semi-precious stones into one-of-a-kind jewelry designs inspired by the colours and viewscapes of Atlantic Canada, as well as the cultural and ethnic source of the materials used in each piece. We know you care about where your jewelry comes from. All pieces are hand crafted at Barbara’s studio in historic Victoria by the Sea, Prince Edward Island. She works hard to source her raw materials from ethical companies, or worker run co-operatives. Barbara says the only “sweat shop” involved in her work is her own, one-woman studio.
